The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a government program designed to improve the dental health of children between the ages of 2 and 17. Through this initiative, eligible children receive up to $1,000 in free dental treatment over a two-year period.
This benefit covers a wide array of essential dental services, including:
Examinations
Routine cleanings
Fillings
Root canals
What Is not Covered?
It’s important to note that the CDBS does not cover more specialized treatments such as orthodontics, or cosmetic dental procedures like the restoration or replacement of damaged or missing teeth.
Your child’s eligibility
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is administered by Medicare. Your child is considered eligible if they meet the following criteria:
Age: They are between 2 and 17 years old for at least one day of the calendar year.
Medicare: They are eligible for Medicare.
Family Payments: Your family receives an eligible government payment, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A, Parenting Payment, or the Double Orphan Pension, for at least one day of the calendar year.
