It begins with your child’s first dental visit covered by the benefit. For children who are still eligible, if you don’t use the entire $1,026 benefit in the first year, you can continue to access the balance of the benefit in the second year.
If there is a balance remaining at the end of the two-year period, it cannot be carried forward to the following year. A new benefit cap period of two years will begin.
What is the Child Dental Benefits Scheme?
The Child Dental Benefits Scheme is a program initiated by the Australian government to provide free dental care to eligible children. The program covers the cost of basic dental services, including check-ups, cleaning, fluoride treatment, fillings, and extractions.

What does the CDBS cover?
If the child is eligible, the dentist will provide treatment and claim the benefits on the child’s behalf. The program covers a range of dental services*, including:

* CDBS does not cover cosmetic or orthodontic dental services for children.
